Two types are available: LED Illumination switches between dipped and full beam to provide the best view while avoiding dazzling other road users. Active High Beam Illumination technology keeps the lights on full beam but masks out the section that could dazzle oncoming traffic, providing optimum full-beam illumination. Active High Beam Illumination also includes Active Bending Lights that turn in the same direction as the steering wheel, to give a better view through corners.

  The XC60 has a chassis that delivers exceptional comfort and control. Sophisticated double wishbone front suspension and integral-link rear suspension use strong, lightweight materials, to help provide agile handling and responsive steering.

  Optional air suspension makes the XC60 even more capable, by keeping the ride height constant and giving you a smoother, more controlled ride over bumps and through corners. The suspension’s responses are adjusted constantly on the move, according to its drive mode and speed. In Comfort or Eco drive mode, the body is lowered 10–20mm at higher speeds to use less fuel. In Dynamic mode the body is lowered by 20mm, for even sportier handling.

  The XC60 has a choice of drive modes that allow you to adapt the driving experience to your needs. You can switch between three default settings for the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system and engine stop/start function. And you can create your own combination with Individual mode. You simply toggle through the drive settings – which are displayed on the 9-inch centre display – using the roller control between the front seats.

  Loading and unloading is easier with the power-operated tailgate available for the XC60.   Pilot Assist helps make driving in heavy traffic less tiring. This semi-autonomous drive technology keeps a set speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you, and uses steering inputs to keep you in the centre of your lane. Pilot Assist works at speeds up to 130km/h, helping to reduce the effort required when driving on busy highways.

  For the EU and US, Pilot Assist uses data from the navigation system – an ‘electronic horizon’ function – that can read the planned route of your drive, so it knows more about the radius of bends or the gradient of the road ahead.

  Park Assist Pilot helps you park perfectly, every time. It uses sensors to gauge the size of available spaces as you drive by them, and lets you know if one is big enough. It can then steer the car into a parallel space just 1.2 times the length of the car, or into a perpendicular space. All you need to do is follow the screen prompts and operate the gears and brakes as the car steers itself into the space.

  Run-off road Mitigation is a standard safety feature for the XC60 that makes it less likely for the car to be steered off the road accidentally. This Volvo Cars innovation detects if the car is about to leave the road unintentionally, at speeds between 65-140km/h, and then uses steering and – if necessary – brake support to guide the car back onto the right path.

  If the car does leave the road, Run-off Road Protection reduces the chances of serious injury. It includes an energy-absorbing feature in the front seat frames that cushions vertical impact in the event of a hard landing and, in addition, optional safety belts that tighten electrically.

  For the EU and US, Pilot Assist uses data from the navigation system – an ‘electronic horizon’ function – that can read the planned route of your drive, so it knows more about the radius of bends or the gradient of the road ahead.

  Park Assist Pilot helps you park perfectly, every time. It uses sensors to gauge the size of available spaces as you drive by them, and lets you know if one is big enough. It can then steer the car into a parallel space just 1.2 times the length of the car, or into a perpendicular space.   The XC60 has LED headlights for a strong identity and superior vision at night. Two types are available: LED Illumination switches between dipped and full beam to provide the best view while avoiding dazzling other road users. Active High Beam Illumination technology keeps the lights on full beam but masks out the section that could dazzle oncoming traffic, providing optimum full-beam illumination. Active High Beam Illumination also includes Active Bending Lights that turn in the same direction as the steering wheel, to give a better view through corners.

  The XC60 has a chassis that delivers exceptional comfort and control. Sophisticated double wishbone front suspension and integral-link rear suspension use strong, lightweight materials, to help provide agile handling and responsive steering.

  Optional air suspension makes the XC60 even more capable, by keeping the ride height constant and giving you a smoother, more controlled ride over bumps and through corners. The suspension’s responses are adjusted constantly on the move, according to its drive mode and speed. In Comfort or Eco drive mode, the body is lowered 10–20mm at higher speeds to use less fuel. In Dynamic mode the body is lowered by 20mm, for even sportier handling.

  The XC60 has a choice of drive modes that allow you to adapt the driving experience to your needs. You can switch between three default settings for the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system and engine stop/start function. And you can create your own combination with Individual mode. You simply toggle through the drive settings – which are displayed on the 9-inch centre display – using the roller control between the front seats.

• VERSATILITY

  The XC60 has the space and versatility to help you seek out new adventures. Thoughtfully designed seats maximise rear legroom, while the load compartment is well shaped, with a volume of 505 litres to the top of the backrest and up to 1444 litres when rear backrests are folded (468 litres and 1395 litres for the T8 Twin Engine). Backrests that fold down electrically are an option.

  Loading and unloading is easier with the power-operated tailgate available for the XC60. It allows you to open or close the tailgate by pressing a button on the car’s remote control, tailgate or dashboard. When combined with the keyless entry option it also offers a hands-free function that means you can even open or shut the tailgate by simply moving your foot under the rear bumper.
